I wanted a fun way to display my sonograms at my baby shower..I feel like I never see sono

displays at showers! I scrounged up stuff I had around the house and created this beautiful, one of a kind display. Let me show you how easily you can do it too!

Supplies:

  1. Sonograms

  2. Hula Hoop (I spray painted mine gold for my bridal shower and used it in a balloon display ; repurposed here, for this display!)

  3. Ribbon

  4. Printer Paper

  5. Laminating Sheets/Self Laminating Sheets

  6. Glue Dots

Prices:

Sonogram (Free)

  1. Hula Hoop: $1.25 - Dollar Tree

  2. Ribbon: I got this ribbon for under $1 during a Michael's Clearance Event. You sometimes have to shop around to find cheap ribbon but Dollar Tree always has shorter rolls for $1.25. I think the wider ribbon works better for this but you could use thinner ribbon to create an almost levitating-photo effect! Lucky for us, this birch ribbon was considered Christmas ribbon at Michaels so we got it for 90% off after the Christmas season ended! Always check seasonal sections; you never know what they have there and what will match your theme! My theme was Woodlands/Forest so this was PERFECT!

  3. Fancy Printer Paper: My parents had extra in the house so free for me but you can find packs of parchment, pastel, watercolor, etc., for $11 - $15 dollars on Amazon.

  4. Self Laminating Sheets: I had extra in the house but you can get them for as little at $8.99 on Amazon! A standard laminating machine will also work.

  5. Standard Adhesive Dots: $1.25 at Dollar Tree. A Little pricier, name brand "Glue Dots" at CVS or Amazon will run you around $13

Step One: Arrange your supplies.

I took my hoop (previously spray painted gold for my bridal shower) and set it on the table.

I set out my strips of sonograms photos (they were given to me in strips, not individual photos) and played around until I found the perfect arrangement.

Setting the layout helped me determine how many labels I need to make. (made on my computer, as seen in my TikTok video)

Obviously, I had to make one for each date/week of the sonogram, but the "30 Week" sonos were not going to fit in one strip, so I knew (after arranging) that I had to make two "30 Week" labels.

Arranging also helps determine how many ribbon strips you need. I needed four.

Step Two: Secure Ribbons.

Photo One: Cut your ribbon strips slightly longer than the length of its position on the hoop.

Photo Two: Cut a slit on ONE end of the ribbon, not both

Photo Three: Staple the end of the slit together to create a loop

Photo Four: Place the hoop on top of the ribbon, Ribbon design facing up

Photos Five and Six: Pull the loop out and thread the rest of the ribbon through the loop

Photo Seven: Pull the ribbon tight!

Photo Eight: Cut the other end of the ribbon into four strands

Photo Nine: Set the two outer ribbons under the hoop and the two inner ribbons over the hoop.

Photo Ten: Tie them tight! I recommend a double knot but here is where you secure the ENTIRE strand that the sonograms will sit on; so make sure it is tight and in position on the hoop before you tie that double knot.

***Step Three: laminate your photos!

We did the entire project without laminating the sonograms at first. I was happy with it but both me and Mom felt something just wasn't quite complete...the photos were curling and flopping and some were not staying stuck to the glue dots.

Mom had the idea to use some self-laminating sheets she had to make each strip of sonograms durable! So definitely laminate your photos at whatever step you would like. But ***the rest of these photos until the final photos will not have the laminated photos.

Step Four:

Use Glue Dots to adhere the ***laminated photos to the ribbons

Step Five: Add Labels

The labels can be adhered to the hoop if they don't fit on the ribbon.

Since you're making the labels yourself, measure and figure out how large or small you want the labels to be to make them fit

***Now this is where we laminated, as mentioned above and NOW we feel like it is complete! We hung the hoop at the entry way to my shower and it was such a heartwarming decoration
